How I’m Spending My Summer “Vacation”

BI Sunset

Picture this: it’s a gorgeous sunny day in Rhode Island and I’m on the ferry to Gansett Island. Joe and Seamus are SO happy to have me coming back to the island that they insisted on co-captaining my ferry. Who am I to say no to TWO hot guys, especially the one with the Irish brogue? Swoon. Anyway, I digress. I’m here to tell you that as of today, I’m free and clear to spend the summer in my favorite place: Gansett Island! The new Fatal book is done, so I turn my full attention today to Gansett, where I plan to finish Love After Dark (already well under way) and another Gansett surprise for later this year (I hope). Going back to the title of this blog, I think of this as summer vacation because Gansett is always my favorite fictional place to be, especially in the summer. I’ve got a nice chunk of time coming up that’s fully devoted to Gansett. Feels like vacation to me! I’ll keep you posted about the progress of Love After Dark, and we’ll soon be revealing the very special cover of book 13 in the Gansett Island Series! Stay tuned!

I want to thank everyone who came over here yesterday to follow my new blog! We had a crazy first day, and I’m so thrilled that so many of you are following me here now. I promise to make this a fun, exciting place to hang out. If you haven’t yet subscribed to the blog, please go to the box on the upper right side to put in your email address so you never miss an update! To get things started in style, on Friday I’ll be hosting a blog party with giveaways, so watch for more about that later in the week! Very excited to share today that my cousin Jennifer Barrera is one of the three Harlequin More Than Words winners! Jen will receive a $15,000 cash prize for her organization, Lucy’s Hearth, which supports homeless women and children in our hometown of Middletown, RI. Jen works tirelessly on behalf of the women and children she serves as the program director at Lucy’s Hearth. I couldn’t be happier for her and I just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all my readers and followers who voted over the last couple of weeks. We couldn’t have done this for Jen or Lucy’s Hearth without your amazing support! Also a special thank you to Cheryl Serra on my team, who helped with the nomination package and did such a great job showcasing Jennifer’s amazing work. Thank you everyone!!!

FScreen Shot 2015-06-17 at 8.03.07 AMinally, this happened this morning. Taye Diggs followed me on Twitter! Not a bad way to start the day, especially a day in which Stella is getting her groove back on Gansett Island! 🙂 (If you haven’t seen How Stella Got Her Groove Back, check it out and you’ll find out why I think Taye Diggs is H-O-T!)

I think that I am going to enjoy this blog! So happy that you are back to Gansett because I have missed it! Someday I will get to Rhode Island to see what it is really like but wonder if the vision in my head may be better! Sort of like when someone turns a book into a movie and you are stuck with thinking, “wow, not at all like what was in my head!” We will see! lol

    • I think you’ll find that Rhode Island more than lives up to the hype. It’s beautiful here and nowhere more so than Block Island. 🙂

  • Irene

Seriously looking forward to my Gansett vacation this summer. Can not wait. Love the blog by the way!! Happy writing Marie. We all appreciate you so much for bringing us the joy of your stories, I certainly do anyway! 🙂 <3

  • Pam Wilson Bull

I was never a reader, and my husband convinced me to use his old Kindle while we were on a cruise. I downloaded Maid for Love before we left, and was hooked! That was 4 years ago, and I have read all the books you have written, as well as about 800 others! Your books are my favorite, and I definitely am ready for another Gansett book. 🙂

  • Robin Johnson

Can’t wait to visit “Gansett” next weekend!!! Hope weather is perfect for our day on the Island.

  • Kellie Conway

I am so happy that more Gansett books are coming!! I just finished Kisses After Dark and can’t wait to start reading more!!

  • Peggy Collins

Any scene with Fred the Moose and Cam would be my G rated choices. I’m too shy to admit my favorite Natalie and Flynn scene but know there are SEVERAL. 🙂
