What Do I Do Now, A Cover Reveal and Other Stuff!
Yesterday, I finished Ain’t She Sweet, Book 6 in the Green Mountain Series, which is due to my publisher on October 1. I mean I really finished it—it’s edited and cleaned up and the author’s note is done and the first chapter of book 7 is finished and well, I’m done. Nine days early. So now what do I do? That’s how I felt this morning when I woke up. What now? After spending weeks entrenched in Charley and Tyler’s romance and the Abbott family goings on, I am lost without them this morning. The post-book-funk is a common phenomena, and my team has learned to expect it as I “come down” from a writing frenzy. Julie always jokes that she battens down the hatches, so to speak, when she knows I’m nearing The End because I’m about to emerge from the writing fugue state to take a look around like the groundhog on Groundhog Day, and realize I have a business to run. I come roaring back with 9,000 emails that require her attention and 1,000 new “Brilliant Beyond Brilliant” ideas, as I like to call them, and she wants to have me killed. Not really, but sort of. Well, Ms. Julie, I’m not going to do that this time. No, I’m not. So there. I will, however, finally get around to answering the 9,001 emails I got from you while IN the fugue state. 🙂 We’re having some work done on our master bathroom soon, so I have to literally “move out” of my bathroom and closet over the next few days. I suspect that’s going to take some time and it would be better if I didn’t leave it until the night before the work begins… I expect, however, a few brilliant beyond brilliant ideas will result from closet cleaning… (Consider that early warning Julie!)
Charley and Tyler’s story, Ain’t She Sweet, will be out in early April. I know that seems like a lifetime from now, but when print books are involved, it’s actually not that far off. Lots to be done between now and then—editing, proofing, page layout, more proofing. You get the picture! It takes time to bring good books to you, especially when they are also going to be distributed in mass market paperback. While we’re talking about Ain’t She Sweet, I figured this would be a good time to show you the cover and remind you that this book is already available for preorder! Here’s what you can expect in Green Mountain Book 6:
Charlotte “Charley” Abbott has gone out with every guy under thirty-five in Butler, Vermont—except for one. Tyler Westcott’s attempts to date her may be determined, and frequent, but Charley can’t stand how he acts like he knows her better than she knows herself. So when Tyler turns up at the running club Charley joined to train for a marathon, she’s almost ready to quit before she even gets started.
Tyler knows that behind Charley’s prickly personality and dismissive attitude is a sweet woman he wants in his life. And when Charley suffers an injury while training, Tyler is ready to prove that the perfect man for her has been right there all along…
Ahhh, I do so love Charley in all her prickly pain-in-the-ass glory, and Tyler is…. Well, I think he’s rather swoon-worthy in the way he goes about convincing Charley to give him a chance to be what she needs. I hope you’ll love them! But do not despair! There’s LOTS to keep you occupied between now and then. (See Ain’t She Sweet preorder links below.)
Next up, on October 20, is You’ll Be Mine, Will and Cameron’s Green Mountain Wedding novella. Some of you may have read it earlier this summer as part of the Ask Me Why anthology that I did with three other authors. However, if you did not read it then, you can get it on its own on Oct. 20, just in time for autumn in Vermont. I really love the story of Will and Cameron’s wedding, and I hope you will, too! (See You’ll Be Mine preorder links below.)
After that is yet another Green Mountain book, and one of my personal favorites in the series—It’s Only Love, featuring Ella Abbott and Gavin Guthrie. I’ve been dying to write Gavin’s story ever since we first got to know him in book 2, I Want to Hold Your Hand. There’s just something about the wounded hero, and he’s as wounded as it gets. I LOVED writing Ella and Gavin’s story, and seeing her get what she’d always wanted, only to find that it’s going to take more than the power of her love to mend Gavin’s broken heart. I’d say more, but well, you’ll have to read it on November. 3. Remember that it’s Only Love is our THIRD and FINAL READ TO WIN release in which you can read the book the week it is released and take a short 20-question quiz on the content to qualify to win an all-expense-paid trip for two to my 2016 Reader Weekend in Rhode Island. Read more about READ TO WIN at marieforce.com/readtowin. (See It’s Only Love preorder links below.)
Next up is Celebration After Dark on December 1, which is Big Mac and Linda McCarthy’s story. It also features new story for each of their children and a 40th anniversary celebration during the holidays on Gansett Island. This is my first book that covers the winter season on Gansett, as well as the first holiday story for the island residents, so I’m looking forward to finishing that up now that I’m all “fat with time” with Ain’t She Sweet being finished “early.” (See Celebration After Dark preorder links below.)
The new year will begin with Rapturous, Quantum Series book 4, featuring Hayden and Addie! This is a book readers begged for after they finished the initial Quantum Trilogy. So Quantum becomes a series when book 4 is released on Jan. 19. Here’s what you can look forward to for that book:
The story begun in the initial Quantum Trilogy picks up on Oscar night after Academy Award-winning director Hayden Roth kisses the woman he desires above all others, even though he knows she can never be his. Addison York craves her boss’s best friend, Hayden, but he has never given her an ounce of encouragement—until tonight when he kissed her after winning the Oscar. Was that kiss the start of something or another in a long line of frustrations where Hayden is concerned? Something is keeping him from acting on the attraction that simmers between them, and Addie is determined to find out what it is. But when she stumbles upon the secret that Hayden, Flynn and her other close friends have kept from her, will she allow hurt feelings to get in the way of true love? When Hayden won’t share his BDSM lifestyle with her, Addie decides to conduct her own research. Will she be intrigued or repulsed? And what will Hayden do when he finds out how she’s been spending her evenings?
I’m super excited to go back to the Quantum world to write this next installment in the series. I hope to write about each of the Quantum principals in this series, and look forward to continuing Flynn and Natalie’s story, too. What do you think of the AMAZING cover for Rapturous? (See Rapturous preorder links below.)
Once I finish writing Rapturous, it’s right back to the Fatal world to write Fatal Identity, book 10 in the series. Some of you have asked why book 10 won’t be out until next summer. The reason for that is the Fatal Series initially began as an ebook-only series. My publisher, Harlequin, has spent much of this year catching up the print books to the ebooks, with the first seven books out now in print. Fatal Scandal and Fatal Frenzy will be out in print in stores in early 2016. With the release of Fatal Identity in the summer of 2016 everything will be out at the same time for the first time. Personally, I’m really looking forward to the release of book 10, because I’ll no longer have to answer the “when can I get it in print” questions that have dogged me on release days for this series. We want to “give the people what they want,” and it’s great to know we’ll be satisfying readers of all formats with the simultaneous publication of Fatal Identity. Something to look forward to in 2016!
For the immediate future, I’m looking forward to my trip to Toronto this weekend. I’ve never been there, so it should be a fun time. In addition to a reader event on Saturday night, I’m excited to meet my new HQN editor, Margo, and to meet with the rest of the HQN team at the Harlequin headquarters next week to plan our strategy for the future of the Fatal Series. Exciting times for Sam, Nick and me. 🙂 While in Toronto, I’ll also be meeting the team from Kobo, which is co-hosting my reader event on Saturday. I’m taking my husband, my son and my son’s friend to Toronto with me, because the boys are hockey players, and the hockey hall of fame is located in Toronto. A friend also came through with three tickets to a Canadiens game, so they are excited about that. I hear there’s great shopping in Toronto, so Julie and I will be checking that out as well. If you live in the Toronto area and did not get an invite to my reader event on Saturday, email email@example.com to get on the list.
Finally, just a quick note of thanks to the readers who showed up in droves to give Fatal Frenzy such an AMAZING release week last week. I can’t tell you how thankful I am for the incredible reviews and emails and Facebook posts for the most emotional Fatal book yet. Thank you so much for making what I do so much fun. Now to go figure out what the heck to do with myself now that my book is done! 🙂 Have a great day!
